How £20m government funding will be spent in Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth has been formally given the go‑ahead to begin delivering its first wave of Pride in Place initiatives after the government endorsed a programme shaped by hundreds of local residents.

The town is one of 70 areas selected to receive £20m over the next decade, with the aim of strengthening communities and allowing local people to influence how investment is used.

The Great Yarmouth Town Board, which includes community representatives and the town’s MP, drew up the proposals following a major survey carried out in 2024.

More than 700 residents shared their views, alongside contributions from local organisations and stakeholders.

Their responses highlighted five clear priorities: improving access to health services, bringing empty buildings back into use, making the town feel safer, keeping streets clean and tidy, and creating more places for young people to socialise.

With the government’s endorsement now secured, the council has said that work can begin on a series of projects designed to support long‑term economic and social regeneration.
