Plans for two new schools for Norfolk caught up in fresh uncertainty

The government has told Norfolk County Council it is prepared to fund new special schools in Great Yarmouth and Downham Market, which had been in limbo because of a spending review.

While 18 special schools will not get funding, the Norfolk schools - Unity School in Yarmouth and The Ryston School in Downham Market - are still in the national programme.

But County Hall has been asked if it would accept a smaller sum of cash to provide special educational needs provision at other schools - which could be provided more quickly than constructing entirely new schools.........
