Green MP condemns plans for renewable energy scheme in his constituency

Adrian Ramsay, who represents the Waveney Valley, has criticised National Grid's decision to push ahead with its scheme to build overhead pylons through the area.

The pylon route is intended to carry electricity from Norfolk's offshore wind farms towards London and is seen as key project to help the UK achieve its ambitious net zero targets.

Mr Ramsay had wanted the cables to be buried underground through his constituency.

But National Grid has now rejected this option because it says it is too expensive and would significantly push up the cost of electricity bills.
