Opposition councillors pressed County Hall's Reform leader David Bick on the sudden exit of the council's top officer, Tom McCabe, as the process to find a permanent successor came under the spotlight at a meeting this week.

Mr McCabe quit his £209,000 post in June, just over a month after Reform UK took control of the county council, and opposition councillors said "unanswered questions" remained about his departure.
