Farmers welcome new police powers to tackle agricultural machinery thefts

The newly-enacted Crime and Policing Bill allows police officers to enter premises without a warrant to recover electronically-tracked stolen agricultural equipment.

Agricultural vehicle thefts reported to rural insurer NFU Mutual cost an estimated £7m in 2024.

But the National Farmers' Union (NFU) says the new laws should allow police to act immediately when the location of stolen equipment is known - which should........
