Bird flu hits third poultry farm near Dereham - bringing Norfolk's total to 13 cases

The highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian influenza was confirmed in a large commercial poultry unit near Elsing on December 22, after two earlier cases were recorded in the area on December 8 and 20.

Defra says all poultry on the infected premises will be humanely culled, while a 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have also been declared around the site.
