Suffolk county councillor Andy Drummond, who represents Newmarket and Red Lodge, said the robbery at the Tesco Express in Red Lodge's Turnpike Road was "absolutely terrible."

Three balaclava-clad males entered the shop at around 10.50pm on Sunday armed with sledgehammers and crowbars.

Staff were left shaken by the incident, which saw tills, meat, tobacco and alcohol stolen before the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Transit van.
