Plane descending into air base narrowly avoided 'serious collision' with glider |
The pilot of the KC-135 aircraft, an American refuelling tanker, "aggressively manoeuvred" to avoid the smaller plane over Cambridgeshire as it started to come into RAF Mildenhall on April 8.
A report from The UK Airprox Board states "there was a good chance they would have collided with the glider" had it not been seen.
It is estimated the two aircraft came within less than 50ft of each other, according to the recorded vertical separation.
