Nature reserve helps restoration of rare birds
The RSPB is marking the new year with some of its highlights over the past quarter of a century, including the return of the UK's tallest bird.
The common crane was driven to extinction in the 16th century, but projects to support its comeback have meant there has been a rise in numbers in Suffolk and across the country.
This has included at RSPB Lakenheath Fen, where staff have created large areas of cut reedbeds to allow the bird to land and take off without catching their wings.........
