Great Yarmouth First celebrate clean sweep at elections

The party, an offshoot of Report Lowe’s Restore Britain, also won the Caister South by-election on Great Yarmouth Borough Council, marking a momentous day for the party which was only officially registered in March.

Barry Gravenell, who ousted long-standing Conservative Graham Plant, said: “It has blown everything out of the water in terms of our expectations.

“We expected it to go well, but this, well no.

“What we’ve been saying on the doorsteps is that we’re going to be the pebbles that start the avalanche.”

Carl Smith, Tory candidate for Breydon and leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said his party had delivered "a lot" on the county council.
