Opening in Downham Market in 2023, Mabel is a small batch bakery and community space with a mission to make brilliant bread, support the local economy and bring people together.
Founded by Lucy Peacock and Daniel Frazer, Mabel’s goal is to show what’s possible in a small town when values and community are placed at the heart of business.
Everything is baked by hand using high-quality ingredients, working closely with other Norfolk producers. Mabel prioritises sustainability and keeps its offering intentionally small and seasonal.
What sets the business apart is its commitment to doing more than just selling baked goods. Mabel is also a space for creative events, grassroots collaboration and community care.
Since opening, it has hosted dozens of public events, built a loyal following and helped to reinvigorate local interest in the town centre.
Its customer base includes local families, professionals, visitors and many who had previously felt disconnected........
