Here we learn a little more about the finalists shortlisted for this year's award.

Radical Waste is a full-service waste management business operating throughout Suffolk and Norfolk.

The company has a dedicated recycling centre and waste processing facility in Beccles, with its waste collection services covering Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and surrounding areas.

Radical Waste offers comprehensive skip hire, recycling and general waste bin collection services, delivered by a fleet of skip and commercial bin lorries.

The judges said the firm’s zero-waste business model “clearly drives sustainability deep into their clients’ supply chain and arguably their own”.

They added: “There was a good display of broader environmental activities taking place within the business designed to reduce carbon.”

Based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, ATI Tank Hire supplies tanks and silos for short-term, long-term and emergency hire throughout the world.

Established in 1983, the company operates in the construction, oil and gas, chemical, environmental and agricultural sectors.

Its fleet of more than 400 tanks and silos is designed to handle a range of substances, including chemical and corrosive liquids, non-corrosive substances such as diesel and water, and dry powders like cement, fly ash and lime.

Recent projects include The Shard, HS2, Jubilee Line extension and the Olympic Park.

The judges said the company’s investment in a separator “has definitely resulted in a positive environmental improvement as grey water is then re-used rather than discharged”.

The judges praised the scalability of Departure Lounge, adding that the virtual reality based training packages “have potential to reduce client’s carbon emissions”.

There is “no doubt” that the training directly reduces travel for technicians, they added.
