Aviation company wins Energy Innovation Award

Saxon Air is a private aviation company with an expansive reach across the UK and Europe. It offers more than just charter services, aiming to deliver tailored, safe and sustainable aviation experiences.

It also helped pioneer Aviation East, a regional strategy to shape the East of England as a global leader in clean aviation technology and aviation mobility.

Through electric aircraft trials, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) integration and R&D collaborations, Saxon Air is positioning itself at the forefront of the green aviation revolution.

The judges were impressed with the company’s “bold commitment to transforming aviation into a cleaner, more sustainable industry”, adding that the company’s innovation “truly sets a new benchmark for the aviation industry”.

They said the launch of its “cutting-edge” flight training centre further demonstrates Saxon Air’s “leadership in decarbonising pilot training and shaping the future of sustainable aviation”.

Cameron Saunders from Saxon Air said: “This award means a lot to us. We are really trying to push forward not just for Saxon Air and the business we have and the community we are growing, but also to show the aviation world that it is possible to change the energy we are using to train the next generation of pilots as well.”

Alex Durand, also from Saxon Air, added: “For Saxon Air, last year was all about creating a community and positively showing how we overcome difficult challenges.

“We’ve reinvested so we’ve got more in terms of clean power generation which means we can do more low emissions flying.”

Based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, CeraPhi Energy has developed a patented closed-loop geothermal technology named CeraPhiWell that delivers continuous, zero-emission energy.

The system eliminates the need to extract fluids from the ground, dramatically reducing environmental impact and opening up new areas for sustainable energy generation.

The judges described CeraPhi as “true leaders in sustainable innovation”.

National Grid sits at the heart of Britain’s energy system.

The individual companies in the group run the networks and infrastructure that connect millions of people to the electricity they use every day.

National Grid’s regulated businesses own and develop the high voltage electricity transmission (ET) network in England and Wales, and the electricity distribution (ED) network in the Midlands, South West England and South Wales.

Operating separately from these core regulated units, National Grid Ventures (NGV) focusses on competitive markets, investing in energy projects, technologies and partnerships such as electricity interconnectors.
