Wars and conflicts are highly detestable, but they do bring opportunities along with challenges. This unnecessary war in West Asia is expanding to the entire Middle Eastern region, but it is likely to open avenues of cooperation among the regional states. The best outcome will be that extra-regional players leave the region to let the regional players resolve their own issues in their own way, and there could be no better way than diplomacy. Therefore, I would urge all regional and nearby states to put their heads together and navigate through these difficult times to reduce the sufferings of the people. This option must remain at the top of all possibilities to attain, maintain, and sustain peace in the region and beyond.
Next in line should be a formidable, unified front against all regional and extra-regional aggressors to avoid recurrence of such unforeseen situations. For instance, it may be the right time to form new politico-military alliances to deter forces, which might be aspiring to become regional hegemons. They could be within the region or from beyond the immediate neighbourhood.
If I may suggest a formation of a Non-Aggressive Military Alliance (NAGMA) jointly led by Pakistan, Iran, and Turkiye, which provides security within and security without to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states........
