Democrats poised for pitch-perfect series of legislative wins heading into the fall

It's been a slog, but after more than a year of tedious legislative wrangling, the Biden administration and Democrats are on the cusp of potentially logging several legislative wins that will substantively improve the lives of tens of millions of Americans.

A bill allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, a bill making a $52 billion investment into the U.S. semiconductor industry, and a measure codifying into law both interracial and same-sex marriage rights are all poised for potential passage in relatively quick succession for the upper chamber.

The bills aren't everything progressives had hoped for. The prescription pricing bill, in particular, is basically the lone survivor of the one-time $2- to $3-trillion-dollar Build Back Better bill. That said, it is a supremely popular, easily comprehensible advance that will eventually lower prescription prices for tens of millions of Americans. In other words, it's a pitch-perfect win heading into November, not to mention one that Democrats have been chasing for the better part of 20 years. The bill also provides a two-year extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies that would help stave off significant health insurance premium hikes for many Americans at a time of........
