Kathy Hochul Is Living Her Best Political Life |
A new poll shows Governor Kathy Hochul with a commanding lead over both of her reelection challengers, as well as the highest favorability rating of her tenure, suggesting that she is well positioned as she seeks her second full term in office.
A Siena College poll released Tuesday found that 54 percent of voters would support Hochul in the general election compared to 28 percent for Bruce Blakeman, the Republican Nassau County executive who is her prime GOP challenger. Only 17 percent responded that they didn’t know or had no opinion. That marks a slight shift from Siena’s December findings, which showed Hochul ahead with 50 percent to Blakeman’s 25 percent. Blakeman is the sole Republican vying for the party nomination after Representative Elise Stefanik dropped her bid in December, likely due to the challenging political landscape.
