Intelligencer’s 20 Most-Read Stories in 2025 |
In 2025, it felt like we simultaneously took a leap into the future and were hurtled back a few decades. So it’s no surprise that Intelligencer readers gravitated to stories that helped make sense of our jarring AI-fueled, yet re-MAGA-fied reality.
Our list of the year’s most-read stories, measured by audience-engagement, features reporting on new technologies reshaping our lives for better (good-bye, baldness) or worse (ChatGPT ruining college and new crypto crimes). In-depth coverage of the second Trump administration was also huge, including stories on how Corey Lewandowski and Kristi Noem became DHS’s “top goons” and RFK Jr. hijacked the Kennedy legacy. And while the president wants us to stop stressing about affordability, Intelligencer readers couldn’t help but wonder, How the heck can anyone manage to live in New York these days? Turns out tons of people are relying on their parents money and using some sneaky maneuvers to transfer all that wealth.
This is just a small sample of the work New York produces every day both in print and across its six digital sites: Intelligencer, The Cut, Vulture, Grub Street, the Strategist, and Curbed.
