Cycleway works begin, but residents fear an 'expensive white elephant'

Work has begun on the latest stretch of the Willenhall Cycleway along Humber Road, with completion expected by mid-next year. Over the past 18 months, major sections of Coventry’s main roads have been redesigned to include cycle lanes.

The city council says the developments will improve road safety, encourage more walking and cycling, reduce car use, and help ease congestion to boost air quality. Cycleways are already in place along parts of London Road and Binley Road, while work continues elsewhere.

Construction on the Clifford Bridge Road section of the Binley Cycleway began over the summer, and similar work has now started on Humber Road near Sky Blue Way.
