Plans for a £170m project that aims to elevate Newcastle's skyline have been revealed at the world's largest property conference. The plans include a massive 29-storey residential tower, a new hotel on the site of the former Premier Inn in Newcastle, and an array of new bars and restaurants, all designed to create a fresh gateway into Newcastle city centre. Chronicle Live readers are cautiously optimistic about the plan.
Gainford Group, the owner of prime North East properties such as the Vermont and County Hotels, Aveika and Livello, acquired the former Premier Inn building on New Bridge Street six years ago and immediately began planning its transformation.
