Newcastle United face a race against time to get new signings completed before they start their Premier League season against Aston Villa on August 16.

The Magpies have made two signings so far, with Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale joining Eddie Howe's squad, but we could be in for a dramatic end to the trading period. Alexander Isak has told United he wants to leave, although a bid from Liverpool was swiftly rejected.

Newcastle are focusing on potential replacements, with strong interest in RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko and Brentford's Yoane Wissa - while they remain in the market for a central defender and midfield options.

Brentford will allow Yoane Wissa to leave the club IF they land a deal to sign Bournemouth's Dango Ouattara.

The Mail report the Cherries are keen on the forward and are confident of bringing him the Brentford Community Stadium.

That would allow Newcastle to complete a deal for Wissa - if they meet their asking price.

Aston Villa are insisting that John McGinn is not for sale this summer, having rejected an £18m bid from Everton.

The Scotland midfielder still has two years left on his contract. Unai Emery wants to keep his skipper, amid interest from Newcastle who are looking to add a replacement for Sean Longstaff to their squad.

Benjamin Sesko is set to fly into Manchester later today to have his medical and put the finishing tiuches on his move from RB Leipzig.

Man Utd are looking to get the deal signed and sealed before the weekend.

The 22-year-old is a raw talent and far from the finished article. It is a risky purchase for Man Utd but it feels like one that Newcastle will come to regret not getting over the line.

It looks like the Sesko move to Man Utd is going through.
