The case of US Representative Jasmine Crockett's now-deceased fraudulent former 'security guard' is a sea of red flags: lack of due diligence on her part by not 'vetting' him; unlicensed armed security officer activity for every jurisdiction he masqueraded in, and operating an illegal off-duty police officer employment firm while impersonating one.

A fair question for investigators and a curious Speaker of the US House is, did the redistricted representative have any knowledge about this fraud? If not, it makes her look incompetent. If so, it suggests impeachment-worthy complicity.

As a 'safety creator', I have my own opinions about private security licensing laws and off-duty police officers doing security. The deceased wouldn't have been able to get licensed in Texas or elsewhere at no level, from guard to company owner, with his theft record and while on probation. The fact he adopted an alias and pivoted to impersonating a police officer shows a vulnerability in that market. Too often clients take it at face value that someone claiming to be in law enforcement actually is. The deceased took advantage of both customers and cops, with disastrous results.

His cover could've been blown by simply checking with state agencies regulating private security and police officers. The fact this wasn't done by many who did business with him is an appalling lack of risk management.

On a political note, the fact he was affiliated with the congressional firebrand wasn't surprising. If she runs her office the way she runs comments on Capitol Hill and social media, this is just the first of many embarrassing revelations to come.
