We are repeatedly told that 97 percent of scientists agree that Earth's climate is experiencing dangerous warming caused by human activities. (1)
John Kerry, Biden's climate czar, is a leading proponent of this statement: "97 percent of peer reviewed climate studies confirm that climate change is happening and that human activity is largely responsible."
One of the main papers behind the 97 percent claim is authored by John Cook, who runs the popular website SkepticalScience.com, a virtual encyclopedia of arguments trying to defend predictions of catastrophic climate change from all challenges. (2)
Climate researcher David Legates demolished Cook's study after its publication. Unfortunately, though, Legates revelatory findings, 0.3 percent consensus, not 97 percent, was not so widely circulated. (3)
Although the 97 percent figure, based on discredited studies, is exaggerated, in this new present era of global warming, it is worth revisiting the much touted 97 percent consensus lie. Science is not done by consensus, it isn't a vote. Consensus is a political tool, it has no place in science.
Here are data showing 0.3% consensus, not 97.1%:
You read that right, the much vaunted 97 percent consensus turns out to be a mere 0.3 percent consensus. (3)
In 2009, 1,079 emails between climate scientists of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) in the United Kingdom and others working with them were released by a whistle blower in an incident that came to be known as Climategate. (1)
This small group of scientists has been the most influential in driving world wide alarm over global warming.
The emails they exchanged revealed that they were doing everything they could to keep scientists whose findings disagreed with theirs our of the peer review system. The ruthless methods these men used to silence any scientist who dared to question their conclusions were shocking.
They has pressured editors of scientific journals to block the publication of peer reviewed studies contradicting their results.
Two years later in 2011, 5,000 more emails were leaked. These were even more startling and incriminating than the 1,079 released in 2009.
Many scientists have been afraid to disagree with those in power out of fear that their careers will be ruined.
Today, the claim that almost all published papers support anthropogenic global warming in some way is indeed on its face correct, but only because the vast majority of skeptical papers are now refused at peer review or publication.
The entire process has been completely subverted to support the UN's global boiling position, which gives the entirely misleading impression that everyone agrees, when they most certainly do not.
Recently 1,609 climate scientists and other experts, including Nobel prize winners signed a declaration that there is no climate emergency and insisting that carbon dioxide is beneficial to Earth.
"There is no climate emergency" the Global Climate Intelligence Group (CLINTEL) said in its World Climate Declaration, made public in August 2023. "Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures." The coalition pointed out that Earth's climate has varied as long as it has existed, with the planet experiencing several cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age only ended as recently as 1850, they said. "Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming." (5)
