Introduced on October 8, 2024, as part of the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s £31.9 million Milton Road Improvement Scheme, this roundabout has become infamous for its sheer complexity. With 36 traffic lights and a segregated layout designed to keep cyclists and pedestrians apart, it was billed as a model for safer, greener travel in a growing city.
But it didn’t take long for frustration to mount. Locals branded the junction “utter madness,” arguing that the lights had made congestion worse rather than better.
