Bell: Notley plays Captain Alberta role

4 46 598

You’d think an election is coming.

Notley is on a stage with more hardhats than suits.

A snazzy video has the vibe of a commercial for heavy-duty trucks.

The premier says she wants to see a new refinery built in Alberta and is asking who is interested.

Deron Bilous, Notley’s trusty main man on jobs, is like the warm-up band at a rock concert.

Bilous says Notley is a champion. Notley is fighting for Alberta. Notley is holding Ottawa’s feet to the fire.

Notley tells us she cut oil production to raise the price. She’s buying thousands of rail cars. More than 100,000 jobs have been created since the depths of the recession.

She’s still fighting for pipelines.

You’d think an election is coming.

Your scribbler isn’t much interested in what’s on this day’s menu. Slim pickings and not enough political protein.

But there are questions to be asked.

Let’s go back to last week when Notley took to the national stage down east.

While with the other premiers and Trudeau and his crew, Notley said moving products through different parts of Canada wasn’t a provincial responsibility.

For you........
