Brookman: Politicians have lost our trust through too many broken promises
Watching Dr. Anthony Fauci giving his non-testimony last week was distressing on many levels.
Here was a man, as former director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whom we seemed to find somewhat calming during the two years of COVID, and we had faith in his recommendations and comments.
I took the vaccine, and would do so again, but that is not the issue.
The issue today is that Fauci’s testimony only added to the uncertainty many people are experiencing about their confidence in our institutions and governments. A podcast commentator recently suggested that to create division among any group, all that’s needed is to give half the people red sweatshirts and the other half blue sweatshirts, with the immediate result of them breaking into competition.
