Ford: A childish wish to see angels materialize with charitable deeds

Christmas Eve is about expectation and desire, and it doesn’t matter how young or old one is. Today is a magical day of waiting.

Christmas is a time of gratitude, even this year with the prospect of bizarre goings-on south of the border, fear and trepidation for the future, and anger at Ottawa, including a rancour rarely seen in Canada. So let’s spend this time doing what Canadians do best: giving back to each other.

We should expect much of ourselves because much has been given. Most Canadians live in want, not need. Even those living paycheque to paycheque, from employment insurance to welfare, from food bank to Inn From the Cold, much has still been given, even if those gifts don’t feed a family or pay the rent. We still live in peace; Canada is a democracy, we rarely shoot each other and we walk the streets unafraid.
