In the run up to Christmas I'd hope to share a more positive message on the state of the UK's economy, writes the Conservative MP for Mid Buckinghamshire Greg Smith.

However the Budget has proved every bit as damaging as feared. With a £26 billion tax hike, this Labour government has chosen a path that will hit communities like Mid Buckinghamshire particularly hard. At a time when local families and businesses are already facing significant pressures, the Chancellor has opted to dig deeper into taxpayers’ pockets rather than support those who keep our economy moving.
