Archer's inclusion could be the key to World Cup glory for England

England will never have a better chance of winning a World Cup. The next tournament is in India in four years' time. Will this same group of players still be around? Probably not. Will the conditions in India suit them? Probably not. So this is their time.

This is their once-in-a-lifetime chance to grab the nation and spread cricket's popularity, because I think there are a lot of people who do not watch the sport now who will see how good this England team is and start becoming interested in the game.

Everything has fallen into place for England. Jofra Archer has arrived on the scene at the last minute to give them that extra pace. They are only scheduled to play on one used wicket, against Afghanistan at Old Trafford, and there will be fresh pitches for the semi-final and final, unlike in the Champions Trophy two years ago, when they were beaten by Pakistan on a slow, old surface at Cardiff.

The two new white balls and flat pitches that suit powerful batting units are just perfect for a team set up like England.

The round-robin format suits them because it makes it far more likely that the best four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. In the past if you had one or two iffy days you were........
