Steve Smith violated the terms of his Cricket Australia ban on the first day of the Ashes series in Birmingham.

He is not allowed to take any leadership role in the Australian team until March 29, 2020. Instead he showed what everyone playing and watching already knew, which is that the largest part of cricket leadership springs from cricket ability.
