Embattled freight tycoon takes out second loan on harbour mansion

Of all the benefits that are said to come with owning a Point Piper trophy home with a harbour view, the ability to use it for a cheeky short-term loan is often overlooked.

But not by freight industry tycoon Terry Tzaneros. As receivers and administrators pick over the $272 million worth of debts owed by the family’s former freight giant ACFS Port Logistics, the family patriarch has quietly added a second mortgage to his Point Piper home’s title.

That’s the $38 million house Tzaneros purchased five years ago.

There was no comment from Tzaneros as to what the $4.365 million worth of finance was intended to cover. The terms of the lending facility are more forthcoming. The borrower is Tzaneros’s corporate entity Sir Randwick Pty Ltd, with Tzaneros and his wife Anne Tzaneros as guarantors. It comes with interest rates of 4.5 to 8.85 per cent over a three-month term, which annualised equates to 18 to........
