Kiwi Poi finds her way at Collingwood

After Kimiora Poi had chatted with the Magpies' general manager of women's sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, and agreed to a mid-season transfer to replace the injured Madi Browne, the young woman from tiny Tikitiki in north-east New Zealand did a quick Instagram search.

The answer Poi found, initially, came in a lot of references to AFL. "I have no idea [about] the rules of AFL, but the girls have said they're going to take me to the game on Monday, the Big Freeze one," she says. "Apparently that's going to be a good game."

Melbourne supporters can only hope so, considering the relative ladder positions, but the Queen's Birthday entree in both FightMND and local sporting rivalry terms is at nearby Melbourne Arena - where Super Netball's second-placed Vixens and the Magpies, residing in fifth spot, are set to duel from noon.

"The Battle", as it's called, is also foreign territory for Poi, who played her first game for the Pies just five days after arriving in the country, and without having even completed a full training session with........
