How to prepare for your end of probation review

Will you make it to the other side? That’s the question a lot of people think about when they allow fear of failure to affect them during their probationary period. But even though it sounds intimidating, it’s important to remember that your “end of probation review” is not set up to criticise your performance.

Before you prepare for your review, make sure you have a clear idea about what you and your boss are expected to get out of the probationary period. While this is your chance to see if your new team dynamic and company culture is right for you, it’s also a learning exercise for your employer. During this time, your boss will get a better idea about how you might develop in the company, and has a chance to discover any strengths or weaknesses they didn’t spot in the recruiting process.
