Third straight loss could have dire consequences for Broncos

Brisbane Broncos v Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium, 7.50pm kick-off, live on Channel Nine

How important is Thursday night's game for the Broncos against the Wests Tigers? Put it this way: if they don’t win this game, you can pretty much put a red line through their season.

They can still make the top eight but you have to make the top four if you’re going to win the premiership. Like a lot of people, I tipped them to win the comp and I’m stunned with how they’ve started. I’m stunned about the form of their big players. I think they will beat the Tigers because they have to and it's at home, but it won't be easy.

I get the feeling a few of their players are on their last chance and none are under more pressure than five-eighth Anthony Milford.

His defence has been poor. He’s not organising the team. His kicking game is non-existent. He’s their highest-paid player and if you’re getting more than $1 million you have to set the standards; you have lead everything at training and, on the field, you have to be the best player every week. You have to be if you're getting that kind of money.

I understand he had off-season shoulder surgery but if you’re good enough to be out there you’ve got to put your body on the line defensively and he’s not doing that.

There's no communication from Milford and his halves partner, Kodi Nikorima, to the rest of the side. I watched them closely against the Roosters. Normally,........
