It’s a Yuletide tradition. In this season of love and inclusion, we invariably fall to squabbling. In other words, it’s time for our annual dispatches from the Christmas wars.

Let’s start with litigation, always a signal of the season. It wouldn’t be the holidays if Mariah Carey wasn’t facing a lawsuit over All I Want for Christmas Is You. The plaintiff, who claims she copied from his work, also went after Carey last year but dropped the suit. True, she’s settled at least one other lawsuit over a different song, so maybe this time the plaintiff will have more luck. Whatever the outcome, I doubt that Carey will lose the Queen of Christmas nickname (which she tried and failed to trademark last year) anytime soon.
