Democrats Are Trying, Once Again, to Avoid Offending Voters

Thus far, the widening war in Iran has mostly been thought of as a political problem for the Republican Party — and understandably so. Polls show most voters oppose what the Trump administration is doing, with even a quarter of Republican voters saying that President Donald Trump has been too eager to use military force.

But the war is also becoming a political problem for Democrats. New divisions are emerging and old tensions are festering — over foreign adventurism, over Israel, and between moderates and progressives — as the party tries to win over voters heading into the midterm elections.
