Leftist media twists Trumps criticism of Liz Cheney for political gain

Former President Donald Trump recently criticized ex-Rep. Liz Cheney, calling out her support for military interventionism and accusing her of pushing Americans into needless wars. But rather than addressing Cheney’s history of pro-war policies, several major media outlets leapt to her defense, portraying Trump’s comments as violent rhetoric instead of an anti-war critique. The incident sheds light on how left-wing media are increasingly willing to back neoconservative figures to take jabs at Trump, even if it means distorting his words and intentions.

Speaking at a campaign event with Tucker Carlson, Trump addressed Cheney’s pro-war record and the military-industrial complex. “She’s a radical warhawk,” he said. “Let’s put her with a rifle, standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels about it, when the guns are trained on her face.” Trump’s criticism was clearly metaphorical, implying that Cheney, like many elites, is quick to support wars that endanger American soldiers without facing the same risks herself.

Trump went on to say, “I’d have meetings with a lot of people, and she always wanted to go to war with people.” For Trump, this criticism aligns with his broader stance on American military interventionism, which he has consistently opposed since his time in office. Trump’s track record has leaned toward bringing troops home and ending prolonged conflicts overseas, a position contrary to Cheney’s hawkish legacy. But instead of engaging with Trump’s anti-war position, outlets like Good Morning America, Reuters, and The Daily Beast selectively quoted Trump’s statements to paint a far more sinister picture.

In an attempt to portray Trump as violent and unhinged, headlines popped up across the media landscape, claiming Trump had “fantasized about shooting” Cheney. Good Morning America, for instance, ran the headline “Trump uses violent........
