Institutional investors are increasingly using the secondaries market as a portfolio management tool as they look for new ways to manage liquidity and private market exposures, according to a recent webinar by Mercer Canada.

“Private equity seems to be one of these asset classes with one foot on the banana peel and always kind of missing the market in terms of getting to a place where we were going to have the liquidity we expect,” said Mike Forestner, global chief investment officer of private markets at Mercer, during the webinar.
