While the gender wealth gap among Canadian employees has narrowed over the last 20 years, more data is needed to accurately measure the divide, says Maude Pugliese, professor at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique and Canada research chair in Family Financial Experiences and Wealth Inequality.

A recent report by the INRS that was co-authored by Pugliese found as of 2023, there was a median wealth gap of $28,000 between male and female employees. The narrowing gap is partly attributable to gains made by women, including increased female representation in roles that offer pension........
