The Ruben Gallego makeover is complete.
Only a few years ago, he was a bomb-throwing, back-bench liberal who called a conservative lawmaker an “effing baby killer.”
He was a card-carrying member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus who opposed the filibuster and the centrist Democrats who defended it.
Today he would vote to keep the filibuster, has dumped the progressive caucus and is admonishing his party to unload their Ivy League advisers and get to know the real people in this country.
Gallego is a classic shape-shifter.
Any of us Republicans who have a problem with that need to take a long, hard look at GOP “Team Unity” — Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, Bobby Kennedy, Jr.
Not so long ago, all of them were essentially Democrats. Even Trump.
So, Ruben Gallego is no outlier.
