From Celtic village to world capital: how Paris became Paris
This brief animated visualisation tracks the evolution of Paris from its origins as a fishing village settled by a Celtic tribe, the Parisii, on a small island in the Seine River, to the year 2025. Rendered in 3D animation and created without the use of AI, the video moves through several periods of expansion – including its conquest by the Roman Empire and the age of globalisation – before arriving at the city in its current form as France’s capital, as well as a world capital of culture. The resulting three-minute video makes for a riveting and rapid history lesson, capturing the contours of both local and global historical tides across millennia.
