Food and liquid aversions fascinate me. I can see people not liking avocados, coconut, mole, white wine and sugary sodas. But water? Seriously?

Up until recently, I thought my dad was the only person I knew who hated the taste of water and avoided drinking it. We practically had to force him to drink enough of it every day.

In a recent conversation with a co-worker, I discovered she too hates water, be it tap, filtered or spring. “I don’t like water. It must have something else like tea for me to drink fluids,” she told me.

Thinking along those lines, we bought our dad some bottled fruit-flavored water drinks. He seemed to like those more than regular water and drank more of it – until we found out those are loaded with sugar!

I just don’t understand the water hate. It is so refreshing and rejuvenating. So what if it’s bland. It’s supposed to be.
