My assignment: Watch “Irish People try Thanks-giving Pies” on YouTube.

Three two-person teams on the Try Channel were served traditional pies for the holiday, which one trier said she wished Ireland observed because “it’s a day to have off and eat!”

The pies they tried were apple, pecan, pumpkin, black cherry and sweet potato. Their favorite was the pecan, which most had never tasted. They absolutely loved it.

Their second favorite was pumpkin. None had tried it before and said it didn’t look very appetizing. But after one bite (with whipped cream), they quickly became fans.

They all had tasted apple before, so it was nothing new. The black cherry was just “meh.” Most hated the sweet potato. Two triers even spat it out, which is what I would have done.

I am not surprised that the favorite was pecan because, if not too sweet, it (as one giddy trier squealed) “tastes like Halloween!”
