Highs and lows of 2017 worth noting

A formal awards ceremony, with everyone resplendent in the now obligatory hearse black, might be a bit much but I can’t let the expired year slip away over the horizon without noting a few highs and lows.

The Treachery Award, for screwing Windsor over big time, surely goes to the Justin Trudeau regime for handing the city’s noggin on a platter to Matty Moroun and his triumphant Ambassador Bridge company last September.

Trudeau and his minions didn’t just sell Windsor out when they gave the Liberal-friendly corporate giant permission to build a new six-lane span. They shredded the city’s bargaining position in its marathon struggle to protect the historic Sandwich neighbourhood.

Worse, the feds ordered a humiliated Windsor to negotiate the terms of its own surrender. They could have insisted on serious compensation. Instead they left it to the city to try to wheedle a few sparkly trinkets out of tough-minded bridge company bargainers.

The much-coveted Peerless Procrastinator Prize also goes to the Trudeau Liberals for their stunning inability........
