GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau's run out of excuses to gag Wilson-Raybould

Here’s a simple question for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

First, let’s assume he told the truth when he said no one in his office inappropriately pressured former attorney-general Jody Wilson-Raybould to drop the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin on charges of bribery of the Libyan government, in favour of a non-criminal Deferred Prosecution Agreement.

Second, let’s assume he told the truth when he said that when Wilson-Raybould asked him if he was going to tell her to intervene in the case along those lines, he responded the decision was hers alone to make and he expected her to make it.

Given that, how would Wilson-Raybould confirming what Trudeau said violate solicitor-client privilege, or cabinet confidentiality, or queer the legal case against SNC-Lavalin?

The point of solicitor-client privilege is that people can talk frankly to their lawyers when seeking legal advice, thus enabling their lawyers to give them good advice in return.
