HASSAN: We can't forget about the situation in Yemen

The situation in Yemen remains dire.

The human catastrophe unfolding in this war-torn country has reached gargantuan proportions. No end to the conflict is in sight, with the Saudi-backed Yemeni government and the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels continuing to resort to lethal violence.

Tragically, sectarian sentiments continue to drive political conflicts in the Islamic world. Their fallout naturally affects innocent civilians, especially the children, who have as always suffered the most.

The United Nations Security Council has called for an end to the hostilities and the UK has recently come to back this move. It has called for a two-week cessation of hostilities so that relief aid can enter the country.

It is estimated that 22 million people in Yemen are in urgent need of humanitarian relief, half of them children. These people are suffering from........
