How often has a city welcomed you with music? The Udaipur World Music Festival does just that. It aims to make you swing and sway at every step, starting with a dash of Rajasthan’s quintessential music and hospitality as dressed-for-the-occasion troupes play ‘Padharo Mharo Des’ at Udaipur’s railway station and airport. The three-day festival celebrates music from across the world in the city of lakes and palaces from Feb 15 to 17.

Sanjeev Bhargava, Director of Seher India, has conceptualized and produced this festival to cater to a wide array of tastes, sensibilities and moods. “There is different music for a different time of the day,” he says, “the mornings are meditative, more intimate, just like our baithaks, with limited attendance. The afternoons are colourful and romantic. And the evenings are thumping with high energy, with much larger participation of the crowd.”
