It took the earth about 20,000 years to get 4.5°C warmer. This change was what thawed the Ice Age. The next 4.5°C of warmth will be generated over the next 85 years starting from today. Hilariously, the end of the world will not be caused by nuclear holocausts, asteroids, or financial meltdowns. It will be because science is boring and easy to ignore. Given Pakistan is one of the world’s most water-stressed regions, it will face major disasters unless it reverses course swiftly and significantly.

The figure, 4.5°C, means the sea level will rise 15-20 per cent which will submerge some cities (40 per cent of the world’s population lives within 60 miles of a large body of water) and create few new coastal zones, cyclones will wreak........
