Hansen grew with ABs job

OPINION: Few All Black coaches have grown as much in the job as Steve Hansen has in his seven years in charge.

There's an ease about him now that wasn't always apparent in 2012 when he took the reins.

Success has no doubt helped. If you've been involved in winning two World Cup titles it would be very strange to not have a pretty healthy belief in your approach.

So on Friday morning when Hansen walked into a conference room thronged with journalists at the Heritage hotel in Auckland, to announce he'd be stepping down after the World Cup next year in Japan, no wonder his body language was so relaxed.

He could joke about the fact that before the northern tour this year he had told the man on his right at the front table, New Zealand Rugby CEO Steve Tew he'd made his decision to leave the All Blacks, but hadn't told the man on his left, NZR chairman, Brent Impey.........
