Not caring is a form of racism too

Call it what it is, says Oscar Kightley, Donald Trump's vulgar language shows the insidious creep of racism is appearing more and more in society.

OPINION: It would be awesome to strop writing about racism – but it keeps happening. To ignore it would be to ignore the creeping tide of racism that seems to be washing back through our society.

If the last couple of years were combined into a Game Of Thrones episode, it could be called "More Racism is Coming".

The more obvious examples are overseas and tend to centre around the treatment of refugees and immigrants, lately often in North America and often involving that country's leader.

Oscar Kightley says you don't get to choose what causes offence to others and to not even care about that, is kind of being racist too.

Following the latest outrage inspired by Donald Trump, The Washington Post wrote a piece stating that racial tension is the reason he was voted in as president. It's like racism is his version of Michael Jordan's "secret stuff" that powers him to victory........
