She's got this: PM Jacinda Ardern will be just fine without any advice we could provide her on pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.

OPINION: I don't care if Jacinda Ardern has a c-section. I couldn't give a hoot whether she has an induced labour, or gives birth in hospital, or has an obstetrician, or struggles to choose a baby name.

I have no unsolicited advice for her, because there is no advice I could give to new parents other than "save yourselves" and it's obviously too late - their lives as they know it are about to be destroyed. I mean, enriched.

Women have figured out how to be mothers for countless generations without the aid of columnists, and - this might be a crazy call - but Ardern seems like she can probably take care of herself.

Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford.

But I am going to write about babies, and why we are so obsessed with asking women about their choices, and why I feel so uncomfortable with attempts to chart every facet of Ardern's pregnancy.
